Dave Curtis: His reply to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

GHS '87 class member Dave Curtis replies to the article from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel on his store, Graveyard Records:

1st off I'm not a devil worshipper or satanist I go to church with my wife and kids most Sundays (not every Sunday but many times a year based on the Sundays I have to work) He asked about my faith and I told him I would not talk about it nor would I talk about my family That is private. ** Not ever mentioned in the story **

Crocker had asked during the interview if I had any strange thing happen at the store or if I had any strange stories to tell about the store.. I told him that before the store opened in Aug of 2001 that an older lady from the area had stopped by when I was outside cleaning the windows and she asked what kind of store we were opening, I told her about the store and what we would be selling she said that she had no problem with that but she could not understand why I had a rubber corpse in one of the windows I told her since the store was called Graveyard Records that I thought it would be eye catching to have the corpse in the window, at that time she asked me if I was a satanist or if I was into witchcraft I told her NO. and that she could stop by any time to check up on me and the store if she liked.. She had been to the store many times and has even told her grandkids that are older about the store. He twisted this story to get his headline.

You have to be at least 16 years old to come in the store without an adult. I'm not Toys R Us!! ** Not ever mentioned in the story **

We are a music / horror movie memorabilia store like a Spencer's Gifts but on the darker side ** Not ever mentioned in the story **

The interview was done over 3 1/2 hours on a Wed night during the interview we talked about the serial killers stuff for only about 20 - 25 minutes..The rest of the time he asked me about the sales of cd's, dvd's video movies and music concerts and other music related items.. We also sell full size arcade machines ** Again not ever mentioned in the story **

I don't sell porno films or any X rated material.. The reporter was here doing the interview when a customer brought in a large bag of video's that he was looking to sell or do a trade with us.. The bag had about 20 vhs tapes 3 were porno's and the rest were horror movies and comedies, their was a midget porno in the bunch and I pointed it out to one of the guys that works for me.. The interviewer (Crocker Stephenson) picked up the video and read
the back before putting it back with the rest of the tapes.. I DID NOT BUY any of the video that this person had brought into the store to sell this day. Again, we don't stock or sell porno or X rated material. Yes we do play horror movie on the 2 tv's that are in the store but we also play music video's and concerts ** Again not ever mentioned in the story **

Yes, I do sell action figures of serial killers is it right ?? it depends on who you talk to, their is a demand so I fill it but I also sell many action figures related to movie and tv and Halloween masks.. ** Again not ever mentioned in the story **

No I don't have a picture or poster of Jeffrey Dahmer hanging in my store..I do sell t-shirts, comics and books but the same comics and books are available at almost any books store in the city of Milwaukee.. ** Again not ever mentioned in the story **

Crocker was right when he said that I had asked that he not dwell on the serial killer stuff in his story.. The store if much more then serial killer central it's a music and movie memorabilia store.. The killer stuff took up about 3 feet of rack space on a shelf. ** Again not ever mentioned in the story **

And on the immorality of selling serial killer action figures yes I said that I saw nothing wrong with doing so, I had a close friend die in a drunk driving accident he was sober the other driver was way over the legal limit.. Should I have a major problem with every liquor store or bar in the city of Milwaukee because they sell or serve alcohol..Yes the victims of the serial killers have families and it might be hard on them that these items are made and sold. I'm just selling what customer have asked for and asked me to order for them, again is this right I don't know you have to judge for yourself..

Also 1 major part of his visit to the store that he never talks about in the story is Crocker himself bought one of the Ed Gein action figures and also bought a Pee Wee Herman action figure.. He said he thought this might be worth money down the road since Pee Wee was found having fun with himself in a porno theatre about 10 years ago.. Crocker its been over 10 years and the figure was only marked $4.99 the original price was $5.98 Not a very good investment for the future..

If you would like to stop by to see for yourself please do and then judge me and the store
