Our 15 Year Reunion was held July 27, 2002 at Serb Hall in Milwaukee.

Thank you to everyone who attended the 15 Year Reunion!

Over 100 people came together at American Serb Hall in Milwaukee for the long-overdue first "official" reunion for GHS Class of 1987. From the time registration opened at 5:30pm until well after the scheduled ending time of 12:00am, we had a great mix of people from our class reminiscing together.

Many people arrived early, probably to enjoy the game of "Who is that walking in?" as we tried to identify the new arrivals to the reunion!  Buffet dinner was served at 7pm with a brief presentation by class president Scott Smith at 8pm.  Following the presentation the door prizes were given away with the assistance of Michelle (Pena) Williams and Laura (Olsen) Serrano.

After that, it was time to swap stories, pictures and addresses. As Paul Kubiak (unofficial winner of the "I've Changed the Most Since High School Award") took over the music mix,  Laura (Scott) Purtell and Angela (Behling) Zimney were the first on the dance floor. By the end of the night many of those still at the reunion managed at least one song on the dance floor.

A "near-tragedy" was avoided by Dave "The Beermeister" Curtis after 10pm, when the group exceeded its allotment of free beer! Dave took it upon himself (with the urging of Laura Serrano over the P.A. system) to pass the pitcher to collect enough money to keep what made Milwaukee famous flowing!  (Dave, you're in charge of refreshments for the next reunion!!!)

The 15 year reunion for GHS ended a bit later than the scheduled 12am time, with about 50 people still at the hall.

So, what's the plan for the next reunion?

At this point, here is the general plan (subject to change based on the wishes of the class members):

  • The next "semi-formal" reunion will be held in 2007 for our 20th Anniversary.
  • A formal reunion will be held for our 25th anniversary in 2012. (yes, that's one of those "tuxedo and evening gown" things)
  • An informal picnic or beach day will be held, possibly as soon as next year. This will be for families, not just for alumni. This way we hope to keep the cost down, provide a low-cost place where we can all get together. There's no reason to wait until the next formal reunion!
  • We will be putting a survey on the site asking your opinions about the 15 year reunion, what you would change, what you liked, what you want in the next reunion. Please let us know: The only way we can make a great reunion is to know what you want! (Survey will be posted by August 11, 2002).

Pictures? Pictures? What about pictures?!

A note from Scott Smith

I wanted to thank everyone who attended the reunion and made it a success. I will admit to being extremely nervous before we started on July 27. It was a combination of hoping for a great evening and seeing all of you again.  I am very glad to say there were no major glitches and it really was great to see you all again. I hope you will help us to find our classmates who did not attend this reunion so we can have an even better reunion!

Don't forget to check the website occasionally. On the home page, there is a list you can join that will let you know when this site is updated.

Thank you again for a great night!
